Dear HomeInsurance.com- I am renting a bottom floor apartment in a flood-prone city. Can I get flood insurance as a renter? Thanks, Jessie P. Savannah, GA

Hi Jessie,
You are in luck. Flood Insurance is available for renters. It is referred to as a Contents Only Policy- and covers your belongings and home’s contents in the case of a flood. This policy differs from a standard homeowners flood policy as it does not include coverage for structural damage- oftentimes making flood insurance very affordable for renters.
