M,
Before installing a pool, my first bit of advice to you is to make sure you are well aware of local building codes and safety standards such as types of surrounding fences, gates, locks and safety equipment that may be required. Next, I would definitely recommend contacting your home insurance agent and talk to them about your new pool and your liability coverage. Many pool owners will increase their home insurance coverage in order to protect themselves against pool related accidents.
The Center for Disease Control (CDC) reports that there are an astonishing 43,000 swimming realated injuries every year and nearly 600 deaths- a huge reason why homeowners should take precaution and make their pool as safe as possible. Read our tips on Pool Safety that we have compiled for our customers over the years.
