Although the Free Windstorm Inspection Program is over, Florida homeowners continue to sign up for windstorm inspections in order to get reductions on their homeowners insurance.
The program was initiated to promote awareness about windstorm damage caused by hurricanes. The inspections are completed by Panhandle Windstorm Inspections (PWI) which is approved and certified to perform windstorm inspections in Northern Florida.
Homes that pass inspection may qualify homeowners for savings on their homeowners insurance policies. While not every homeowner is eligible, the PWI said that the odds are good that homeowners who get the inspection will receive a discount.

“If you pay more than $1,000 a year on the windstorm portion of your [home] insurance premium, we will guarantee that you will save at least the cost of the inspection in the first year – or we’ll make up the difference,” said Ken Walton of Panhandle Windstorm Inspections.
