My New Years Resolution: I Will Stop Paying Too Much for Home Insurance!

Filed Under (Premiums, Rates) by Editor

Hello Folks and Happy New Years Eve-

This year I’ decided that one of my many New Year’s Resolutions is to create a strict budget and stick to it. I’m determined to cut costs on many of my expenses INCLUDING homeowners insurance.

With my policy renewing in January (although I could switch any time) it’s a great time for me to shop around and find better rates.  This is my first year as a driver AND a homeowner so I plan on taking full advantage of a home-auto discount. And while I am a loyal HomeInsurance.com employee- I went out on a limb and shopped my policy among 6 different major insurance companies.  And who did I choose??

Now, keep in mind that my quote through HomeInsurance.com does NOT include any type of employee discount or any other type of rate reduction just because I work here. I was, however, eligible for 10 other discounts because I have smoke alarms, burglar alarms, etc.

And believe it or not…

My rate with HomeInsurance.com was the lowest. That’s right, I am a walking advertisement for the very company I work for. They got me a rate with Travelers that had more coverage than many of the other companies and at the lowest rate available.

I decided to find out what the average savings are for our other customers (That aren’t employees!) and was happy to see that my experience was about the norm. In our Save to Win Contest that we ran this fall- we were able to save our customers $556/year on average on their homeowners insurance.

Looks like I’ve got one resolution already resolved.

Happy New Years!
