Homeowners use ‘green repair shop’ to fix valuable items instead of trashing them

As featured in a CNN article today, Village Green Renewal is Seth Barrett’s repair shop in Brookline Massachusetts. Village Green Renewal was opened by Barrett in his attempt to reduce landfill waste by repairing broken or worn household items that otherwise would have been thrown out.

Homeowners from Brookline and surrounding areas have been lugging a variety of items into Barrett’s shop including lamps, wooden chairs, old type writers, and once- a set of leather pigs.  Barrett sees his shop as a traditional approach to conservation.

Clearly, the single best way to be green is to re-use things that we already have- says Barrett.
