According to the League of American Bicyclists (LAB), National Bike-to-Work week is May 11 thru May 15th. Bicycle enthusiasts and beginner pedalists alike will be trading in their car keys to ride to work on two wheels instead of four this week.
National Bike to Work week is part of May’s National Bike Month which was started by The League in order to promote healthy lifestyles and reduce the impact of auto emissions on the environment.
The LAB promotes the adoption of National Bike Week events and celebrations in communities all across the country.
For events and celebrations in your community, visit the Bike Month Special Events page and select your state. Interested in starting a biking event in your community? Check out the LAB’s 2009 National Bike Month Organizer’s Kit for helpful tips and resources.
Auto Insurance Tip: Cyclists who bike to work everyday- as opposed to just one week a year- might be eligible for reduced car insurance premiums. Ask your auto insurance agent if you can get a reduced rate since you do not use the car for a daily commute.
