How biking to work can save you money and keep you healthy

Filed Under (Auto Insurance) by Editor

Everyone these days is looking for ways to conserve spending. And since our automobiles often become one of the most expensive belongings to maintain and insure, cutting costs on driving can be a major bonus. So, auto savings tip (and healthy living tip!) of the day…

Bike to Work.

If you live within biking distance of your place of work- consider tuning up the ten speed and leaving home the car keys when you go to work everyday. Biking to work is not only amazing exercise, but it can also save you money.

One great thing about a bike? You don’t have to buy gas to fuel it. Riding your bike to work could save you up to $50 or more on gasoline each week depending on the length of the commute and the cost of fuel in your area. That’s $200 a month- or $2400/year.

Car insurance savings are another great benefit. Most auto insurance companies will base a portion of your premium on the annual number of miles driven in your vehicle.  If you no longer use your car for your daily commute to work you might be able to save some money on your car insurance.

Also, less miles on your vehicle means less wear and tear. Your tires will stand up longer and you will have more time between oil changes. Keeping less mileage on your vehicle is  great for resale value.
