A house in Ogden, Utah was seriously damaged this weekend after faulty electrical wiring touched off a fire. The home had been under construction and was unoccupied at the time of the blaze.
Firefighters told the Deseret News that they attempted to battle the blaze - which started in the home's first floor and attic - from the inside, but were rapidly pushed back by heat and flames. Crews then began to put the fire out from the home's back yard, according to the newspaper. Fire officials said that the blaze was out in slightly less than half an hour.
Neighbors said that transients have been known to frequent the unoccupied home, which is situated on Jackson Avenue, though there is no indication that they had anything to do with the fire.
According to the Deseret News, investigators found that the fire had probably been caused by bad electrical work performed on wires that stretched from the basement to the first floor, making it easy for a short circuit to occur.
