Although many U.S. residents hoped that hurricane season had come to an end after Hurricane Isaac, another storm may be on the way.
According to CBS, Hurricane Sandy has already torn through Jamaica and is potentially headed on a path that would take it through the Caribbean, Cuba and towards the coast of Florida. Although the path is not set in stone, the storm is expected to be north of the Bahamas by this weekend and continue on a path that would take it towards the southeastern coast.
Florida received rough treatment during Hurricane Isaac, but homeowners in the area are advised to take precautions by securing flood insurance to protect their properties. Although it may be too late to do so now, as providers often refuse to sell insurance to homeowners in the path of destructive storms, possessing homeowners insurance and an additional flood coverage policy is advisable to all residents on the coast.
The storm is not expected to head into the Gulf, as Isaac did, but to continue up the eastern seaboard and weaken as it heads north.
