A Rhode Island couple is unhurt, but hopes they can still entertain company over the holiday weekend after a large tree fell onto their roof.
The large linden tree fell over Wednesday and hit the roof of Stephen and Ellie O'Neill's house in Bristol, Rhode Island, crushing the roof line and shattering some of the wooden supports in the home's attic, East Bay Newspapers reports.
A pair of tree companies worked to remove the tree the following day, with a building inspector set to see if the home was still structurally sound, according to the paper. While the family hoped they would be able to stay there, they were thankful the damage wasn't more serious and will be covered by their home insurance.
"It could have been a lot worse. No one was hurt, and we got amazing response of all the support people who are coming down to take care of the problem for us," Stephen O'Neill told the source. "Thank God for insurance."
Other residents told the news source that the tree which fell was easily one of the largest in the neighborhood, and may have been more than a hundred years old.
